The Week of Hope
What is Advent? Advent Candles
Light the candle of Hope, the purple candle.
“The people who walk in darkness have seen a great light…For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. And the government will be on His shoulders. These will be his royal titles: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and the Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:2 & 6
Lord, as we buy gifts this year please let our motives be pure. Let us give gifts not to show our generosity to others but out of true gratitude for what you have given us. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
Have the kids and parents write one paragraph each for the annual Christmas letter. Include not only what you did but share what you learned and how you felt about the events and changes that happened throughout the year. (Supplies needed: Stationary paper, pencil, pen or colorful markers, envelopes, address book)
Spruced up garland When stringing popcorn for garland, add a few cranberries in between, alternating with popcorn. Try to find small cranberries so they are not too heavy, or use small red beads from the bead store.
“Not what we say about our blessings, but how we use them, is the true measure of our thanksgiving.” ~W.T. Purkiser
