The Week of Preparation
Tuesday, December 8
Light two purple candles: the candle of Hope, and the candle of Preparation.
Read Luke 2:1-21
Scrabble Christmas Message. Use Scrabble letters to spell out a message of hope, joy, and love, or scripture quote for your Christmas card. Place a small family photo above the message and take a photo. Also add small props, such as a baseball mitt if one of the kids plays baseball, or ballet slippers, for example. Get this reproduced as your Christmas card to send to friends and relatives. You could also create a photo book including each family member in a photo with a different message and a different room/ background.
“Lift My Spirits” Scrapbook. Have the kids collect humor, jokes, comics that are especially funny and would make you laugh any time. Also include items that they think are one of God’s miracles. Paste them into a scrapbook, or slip items into a small one photo per page photo book. Give it as a gift to someone who needs laughter more than you do.
Father, open our eyes to those in need around us. Open our hearts to those who are suffering and cannot see the light of your love. Amen.
For each new morning with its light,
For rest and shelter of the night,
For health and food, for love and friends,
For everything Thy goodness sends.
